How to Choose Air Springs

Choosing air springs isn’t always easy. But if you take careful measurements of the top and bottom positions you want to achieve, as well as the width of the air springs that will fit, you’re almost there. The next step is to decide what type of air spring you need. There are single, double, triple, and sleeve types - each designed for different applications and load capacities. There are also different designs depending on how the air springs are meant to be mounted. Closed models with caps on both ends are ideal for placement in a spring perch to replace a coil spring. Then there are air springs such as the Aero Sport, which have a sleeve running through them - perfect for converting standard coilovers into an air suspension setup.

A new third option is conversion air springs for BC Racing coilovers. If you already have a BC kit, you can purchase compatible air springs and simply screw them on in place of the coil spring - very convenient!

A small but important detail that’s easy to adjust with adapters and fittings is the air inlet position on the air spring. In many cases, the same air spring is available in several versions with different connection types.

Are the Air Springs Certified?

This is a very common question, and the answer can vary depending on the inspection authority. Most air springs do not come with certificates or documentation, but some include PDF files with specifications and maximum load ratings.
