The HKS R-Type Front Mount Intercooler Kit is a high-performance intercooler upgrade for the Honda Civic Type R FK8 (2017+) equipped with the K20C1 turbocharged engine. Engineered to significantly reduce intake air temperatures, minimize pressure loss, and provide consistent power delivery, this kit is ideal for both spirited street driving and track use.
Under high boost conditions, the factory intercooler can struggle to dissipate heat, allowing intake air temperatures to approach 90°C. The HKS intercooler addresses this with a substantially larger core that offers approximately 200% more cooling surface area than the factory unit, ensuring improved cooling efficiency and more consistent performance under demanding conditions.
In addition to the larger core, HKS has redesigned the inlet tank and piping layout by integrating the inlet tank directly into the intercooler. This creates smoother airflow, reduces turbulence and pressure drop, and improves overall boost efficiency and throttle response.
