AEM Intakes was founded in 1987 in California, USA. The two founders combined their technical knowledge and passion for tuned import cars & sport compacts, and created AEM's first air filter. They were optimized for maximum flow and filtration, adapted for tuned cars. This took off and the bright yellow AEM logo was seen more and more in the racing world. The company was also among the first to make prepackaged intake kits that are now a large part of the product catalog.
